INFANT JESUS FEAST - FEAST DAY
The grand celebration of the Feast of the Infant Jesus, at the revered
Infant Jesus Shrine in Mysuru, finally dawned on January 5, 2025. There
were five masses in the morning in different languages. Rev. Frs Renish
Puthussery CMI (Malayalam), Jeevan Tauro OCD (English), Ajith Rodrigues
OCD (Konkani), Suresh Kumar OCD (Tamil), and Deepak Joseph SMM (Kannada)
each eloquently reflected on the profound theme of the feast: "He Loved
Us," highlighting the unwavering love of Jesus Christ, manifested
through His ultimate sacrifice on the cross, as the cornerstone of our
faith, the beacon of our hope, and the wellspring of our own capacity to
love. Following the Kannada Mass, Fr Deepak led a moving healing prayer
service, offering solace and comfort to those in need.
The afternoon witnessed the solemn Eucharistic celebration in Kannada,
presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Arogyaraj Sathish Kumar, Auxiliary Bishop
of Bengaluru. Joining him at the altar were numerous priests from the
Karnataka-Goa province of the Discalced Carmelites, the Diocese of
Mysuru, and other religious congregations. Alongside the celebrants, an
immense throng of religious sisters and laity converged at the Shrine to
honour the Infant Jesus and implore His blessings.
The highlight of the evening was the solemn procession, carrying the
revered statue of the Infant Jesus through the surrounding
neighbourhood. For an hour, hundreds of devotees, their voices raised in
hymns of praise, joined the procession, their hearts overflowing with
devotion. The procession culminated with the benediction, after which
all were then invited for the Annasantarpane.
The Feast of the Infant Jesus, from the initial flag hoisting to the
culminating celebrations, proved to be a truly transformative spiritual
experience, imbued with the blessings and protective embrace of the
Lord. May each soul that entered the hallowed grounds of the Shrine
during these sacred days experience the enduring love and comforting
presence of the Infant Jesus in their lives.
