Monti Fest Celebrated at Infant Jesus Shrine, Pushpashrama:
The Nativity of Blessed Mother, which is also famously called as ‘Monti
Fest’ was celebrated with devotion and solemnity. During the nine days
of preparation for the feast, each a day a virtue of Mary was taken for
the reflection during the Eucharistic Celebration. After the Eucharistic
celebration, novena payers and flowers were offered to mother Mary and
sweets were distributed.
On the feast of the Nativity of Mary, Fr Ashwath D’Souza OCD presided
over the Eucharistic celebration at 6.30 am in English. At the end of
the mass new corn was blessed and distributed to the people.
The Solemn Eucharistic celebration of the Nativity of Mary at 6.30 pm in
Kannada was presided over by Fr Oswald Crasta OCD, the Rector of
Pushpashrama. All gathered at the Grotto of our Lady to honour Mary with
flowers and all came to the Shrine in procession taking the infant Mary.
The Presider, in his homily highlighted the important role played by
Mary in the salvation history by explaining the three titles of Mary:
the Daughter of Sion, the Ark of the new Covenant and the new Eve. After
the Eucharist, all the faithful shared in a fraternal dinner.
