Threshold of 2020!

As the whole world woke up for yet another New Year celebration, the
Christians saw this as an opportunity to thank God for the wonderful
year of 2019 and pay respect to the THEOTOKOS – the Mother of God! In
this regard, the community of Pushpashrama celebrated the New Year’s Eve
with an hour of adoration at 10: 00 PM which was meditatively guided by
the brothers. After the adoration, the brothers also put up a creative
enactment showing how 2019 fades away both happy and sad and 2020
arrives at the scene with Mother Mary seeking her guidance throughout
the year.
The mass began at 11:00 PM which was celebrated and preached by Fr. John
Lobo. In his usual style, he preached a short but rich homily pointing
out the theological significances of the solemnity. The Eucharistic
celebration was further solemnized by the melodious singing of the choir
led by brothers. After the mass, the newly renovated statue of Our Lady
of Vailannkanni was blessed as the day suited the occasion. Cakes were
distributed to the gathering who were absorbed in exchanging the New
Year greetings. After this, the community gathered at the refectory to
hug and wish ‘Happy Feast and a New Year’ at one another. On the next
day, the New Year’s mass was also celebrated at 8:00 AM after which kick
started the preparations of the feast of Infant Jesus feast!
