profession day of Fr. Paul D'Souza OCD:
The Carmelites of Pushpashrama, Mysore celebrated the 60th
profession day of Fr. Paul Dsouza on July 2nd,2011. Fr. Paul was born 0n
28th of September 1933, at Raia, in Goa to God fearing parents- John
Dsouza and Thelma Dsouza, a family of 6 children,3 boys and 3 girls, Fr.
Paul being the second in the family. He joined the Carmelites of Belgian
province of the Carmelite order in 1950. He was professed on July
2nd1951 with the religious name of Camillus of St. Teresa; which name he
bore till 1979. He studied philosophy in Goa between 1951 to 54;
theology in Rome between 1955 to 60.He was ordained a priest on 5th
April 1959 in Rome. He served throughout his life as professor in
Philosophy and spiritual director at Alwaye monastery, Alleppye in
kerala and Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore philosophy college in Karnataka.
He has helped many religious and laity by guiding them in their doctoral
thesis, counselling the youth, sisters, priests through his powerful
talks, and retreats. He is commonly known as the 'walking
encyclopedia' and a 'living philosopher'.
