Dear Devotees and Friends,
Welcome to the Infant Jesus Shrine, Pushpashrama, Mysuru - a place
where we invite you to pause, lift your heart to God and entrust your life
to the loving care of the Infant Jesus.
Each person comes with a different story. Some bring the joy of an answered
prayer; others carry worries about their children, their health, their
livelihood or their future. Some seek strength after disappointment, while
others simply long for a moment of peace. Whatever brings you here, to the
feet of the Infant Jesus, be as devotees, tourists, spiritual guidance,
confessions or counselling or seekers of the Carmelite spirituality, may you
feel welcomed, accompanied and encouraged to pray with an open heart.
Jesus offers us a gentle invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28). These words make room for
every one of us, not only when our faith feels strong, but also when we are
tired, uncertain, or struggling to find the words to pray. Before the Infant
Jesus, we can lay down the need to appear strong and approach Him with the
trust of a child.
For us Carmelites, devotion to the Infant Jesus is a treasured part of our
spiritual heritage. The devotion associated with Prague was lovingly
nurtured by the Carmelite friars, notably Fr Cyril of the Mother of God. The
words traditionally associated with his prayer, “The more you honour me, the
more I will bless you,” continue to inspire devotees to turn towards Jesus
with confidence and love. To honour the Infant Jesus is to give Him a place
not only in our prayers, but also in the way we live. We honour Him when we
make time for God, forgive someone who has hurt us, care for a struggling
neighbour, and treat the vulnerable with tenderness. Our devotion becomes
deeper when the love we receive in prayer becomes the love we share with
others.
My prayer is that your time at Pushpashrama will help you discover this
living connection between faith and daily life. May those who come with
troubled hearts find courage; may families grow in understanding; and may
those who feel alone experience the comfort of a caring community. Even when
an answer is not immediate or the road ahead remains difficult, may prayer
sustain your hope and help you take the next step with faith.
I warmly welcome you and your loved ones to join us in prayer. Come with
your intentions and your thanksgiving, your questions and your hopes. Let us
place them together before the Infant Jesus and learn to walk more closely
with Him.
May the Infant Jesus bless your homes, guide your decisions and fill your
hearts with a peace that you can carry into the lives of others.
