Enkindled by the Word, Enlightened in Truth: Lectio Brevis at
Pushpashrama
The Pushpashrama Institute of Philosophy and Religion inaugurated the
Academic Year 2025-2026 with the Lectio Brevis on Saturday, May 31,
beginning with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Rev. Fr. Silvestre
D'Souza, Provincial, and concelebrated by 11 priests, centered on the
theme "Enkindled by the Word, Enlightened in Truth," where Fr.
Provincial encouraged the brothers to integrate faith into their
philosophical pursuits for deeper understanding. The official opening
followed, initiated by a prayer song and a welcome address by the Rector
Rev. Fr. Oswald Crasta, who acknowledged the presence of other
dignitaries including Fr. Archibald Gonsalves (Vice-Provincial), Fr.
John Sequeira (Provincial Prefect of Studies), and other priests from
various communities. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, the Dean, presented the
previous year s report and the upcoming academic program, highlighting
the enrollment of 30 students, following which the Pushpashrama Handbook
and Calendar 2025-2026 was released. Rev. Fr. Noel D Cunha delivered a
lecture on his Licentiate Thesis, "Josef Pieper: the End of History and
the Philosophy of Hope," a theme in harmony with the focus of the
Jubilee Year on becoming 'Pilgrims of Hope'. The event concluded with
the Pushpashrama Anthem.
