Entering the Sacred Triduum: Infant Jesus Shrine Commemorates Maundy
Thursday
On April 17, the faithful gathered at the Infant Jesus Shrine for the
deeply moving Solemn Mass of Maundy Thursday, marking the beginning of
the Sacred Triduum. The beautifully adorned altar drew attention to the
central theme of the liturgy the Eucharist. Rev. Fr. Antony Stephen,
the main celebrant and preacher, delivered a profound homily
illuminating the three sacred pillars of this holy feast: the gift of
the Eucharist as Christ s enduring presence, the establishment of the
Priesthood through the sacrament of Holy Orders, and Christ s new
commandment of selfless love. As the liturgy concluded, the congregation
gathered in prayerful silence before the Altar of Repose, adoring the
Blessed Sacrament until midnight mirroring the Lord s agonizing night
in Gethsemane before His crucifixion. The atmosphere was one of deep
reverence, inviting all to enter more fully into the Paschal Mystery.
